As a remedial sports massage therapist and women’s wellness coach, I take a holistic approach to restoring women to optimum health. This is applicable at every stage of life but particularly those who are pregnant or have had children.
Pregnancy & Childbirth
I often meet my clients when they are expecting at my antenatal exercise classes. Offering support and guidance at this amazing time is such a privilege – and even more so when I get to meet the baby behind the bump at one of my post-natal sessions!
There seem to be endless ways in which pregnancy and childbirth can affect our bodies: prolapse, sacroiliac wear and tear, diastases and both types of incontinence. Often these very normal consequences are seen as taboo subjects – we don’t even speak much among ourselves about these issues – and because we don’t talk about them, if we are affected by them we don’t know what to do or where to find help.
Ladies, I am fully aware of the consequences of having children. I have had three babies. I have had a prolapse. I am on the road to recovery.

I’m now making it my mission to change perceptions about the after-effects of pregnancy and childbirth. I want to give women out there the information they need to heal their bodies, through massage, fitness classes and exercise.
Making your health a priority isn’t just about massage, fitness or core work – through my holistic approach we can look at the benefits of all of these approaches and see which combination serves you best. It can be a simple as starting with your breath.
Another great way to begin your recovery is through massage therapy. If you have some sessions while pregnant it helps release strains as they accumulate but it is also brilliant for releasing tension after labour and managing those aches and pains of motherhood. It can also be used to help break down scar tissue if you’ve had a caesarean or hysterectomy.
For anyone with pelvic floor or diastases issues, I offer Holistic Core Restore® group classes over six weeks with a lifetime’s access to helpful sources and exercises.
While targeting women who need to focus on these specific areas, these classes are suitable for all women. I get everyone, from new mums to those who are perimenopausal and beyond, attending and benefitting from work in these sessions.
In all my classes I address how to adapt your diet to help you with specific issues you may be experiencing. I also look at environmental factors – the products you use on your skin and hair might be affecting what goes on inside your body.
And once you’re feeling stronger you can bring your baby along for a BuggyFit class. Making new friends for you and your baby and exercising in the fresh air is exhilarating. You might even enjoy it so much that at some point down the line you’ll brave boot camp!
Exercise and Motivation
My focus on remedial health happened because after childbirth I needed to heal myself. I was already a personal trainer but then added qualifications through Burrell Education in Modern Post Natal Assessment, Core Restore and Functional Exercise Programming to become a fully certified Holistic Core Restore® Coach.
I’m still up most days at 5am with my baby. I know how hard motivating yourself can be!
But my focus now is on inspiring you to make your health a priority. I want to motivate you to take daily action – even if it’s just taking the time to think about your breath.
